Since its foundation in the late 1990's, Satellite Architects have developed a diverse body of work including cultural, residential, commercial and leisure projects, all with an inherent respect to environmental sustainability. Within the portfolio, projects range from cultural buildings in Central London for the Jerwood Foundation, the Actors Centre and Tristan Bates Theatre. Private cultural projects include Hugh Fearnley - Whittingstalls' River cottage HQ in rural Devon and their recent competition winning entry for a new Quakers Meeting House in London, Hammersmith. Since 2010 Satellite Architects have been heavily involved in education projects, with successful new schools being built on the Isle of Wight, Ashburton on Dartmoor and presently on site, the Plymouth Studio School in Devon. Satellite have built private houses for clients in rural Wiltshire, rural Devon and on the Islands of Ibiza and Ile'de Re. Ongoing current projects include the Marriott Hotel in Portsmouth, the Holiday Inn Hotel at Gatwick Airport, a new private boutique hotel for River Cottage in Devon and several refurbishment projects of Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels for the Rezidor Hotel Group. The practice has won many awards and citations for design excellence, most recently the RIBAJ/Schueco design excellence award for its River Cottage Cookery School.




Stewart Dodd, founder

Stewart was a founding director of Satellite Architects. Having studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture he has combined practice and teaching for over 20 years; having taught at the Bartlett School, University College London and at the Architectural Association, London. He is member of ARB, the RIBA and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. A member of the RIBA Education Board and an external examiner at the University of Ulster. He is presently a Unit Master at the Architectural Association and Head of the Architectural Association's Visiting School in Chengdu, China. James Harper, head of architecture and associate director

James has been with Satellite Architects since 2006 and has become the design lead in the office assuring all design is kept to a high standard. His role includes management of all architects and workloads in the office to maintain efficiency and to assure deadlines are met. Adept at designing creative solutions to architectural challenges; designing to budget and meeting deadlines James has detailed knowledge of architectural design, detailing, projects processes, consultant collaboration and project communication. As associate director, he maintains oversight on all projects covering all market sectors but specifically focused on education and community projects. James has been working in the industry for 13 years. 


Laura Bloomfield, head of interiors

Laura studied interior architectural design at IED Madrid graduating with honours. On completion of her studies Laura worked for several interior design projects across Europe. For a year Laura has been working as head interior designer at Satellite Architects, focusing on mid to high-end hotel and commercial properties. In this role, she has acquired a great amount of experience in managing a wide variety of projects, working on all key stages in the development process from familiarisation to implementation/project management through to completion. Laura's interior deisgn/project management skills in high-end residential, hotel and leisure sector has given her a great eye for perfection, precision and efficiency across a range of budgets. Laura's proven ability to generate fresh solutions and determined ambition to create innovative ideas comes through in her work.
